The name may sound scientific but don’t let that fool you. Chrome Diopside has a beautiful rich green color like that of a lush forest. Mined mostly in Yakutia and Siberia this gemstone are more available now with the liberalization of the economy of the former Soviet Union.

         Small sizes are preferred as they show their color best, stones larger than 3 to 4 carats tends to be too dark. These stones are all natural and has not been enhanced in any way. With a hardness of 5 – 5.5 they are best used on earrings and pendants or items that will not receive a lot of wear.
